The American boy and the English student

Chronology : Between 30 Legends' fourth and fifth year

One day of july 2021, Wyatt Devon, a floridian young man, is suddenly hit by a surprising goal of how to spend his summer holidays.

Besides his homeworks. Magical or muggle ones (or no-maj like how the americans call them).

Yeah, because at 15, Wyatt is brainiac and knows as well as sorcerer thing than no-magical.
Anyway, so he has new aim. Find the American's sorcerer school.
What for ?
He isn't really sure, but since what he heard about the Future Order and their ideology about the Next and their talent, he wanted to check if it really affects all the wizards in the world.
His mother introduces him some witch she knows in the States and he goes to them to get some information. One of them tells him about the Co-ed School Of 13 Colonies.
In fact, they call that 'of 13 colonies' not because it really concerned the 13 ancient colonies of the Great Britain but it locate somewhere here and the 'co-ed school' is not only about co-ed but it's because there are wizards in a, apparently, no-maj high school.
At the reception, he has to ask the special part education to be understood. Because, the school is founded by a mixed couple who is aware about those situations. So they create a basic high school for teenagers at outside but there is a domitory just for the special part, the wizards.
But it seemingly isn't the only wizard school in the states.

“Why are you looking for wizard school?” The educational staff asks him with suspicious eyes. “Aren't you already schooling somewhere?”
“Yeah, but... I just want to be informed.”
“If it's for the higher studies, we sure welcome students for the secondary, but you seem a bit young.”
“It's probably because I am.”
“So, what's the deal?”
Wyatt hesitates. Either he can keep to be undefined and goes like an uncivil person or he can admit his real goal and the adult will look at him like uppish brat. He is unexpectandly saved by a random student who passes there to ask some question to his speaker and he takes advantage to escape the awkward conversation.
“Alright, thanks for the information! I won't take more of your time!” He exclaims and goes without waiting for an answer.
He makes his way to the exit but is surprised by a call. When he turns, it is the guy from before.
“Yes?” He drawls warily.
“I know it isn't my business but I eavesdropped your conversation. Is it right that you're looking for american's wizard school?”
“Like you said, it's none of your business.” Wyatt answers. He continues when he sees the guy waiting more of his response. “But yes, I'm looking for that.”
“Good, I was just in my way, would you like to come with me?”
“But... I don't even know you.”
“My name is Gabriel Rowle and who are you?”
“Wyatt.”
“So, now we know each other's name, do you want to come?”
The young man hesitates.
“I'm...not sure.”
“Don't be like that, I won't do anything. And you always can defend yourself in any case.”
Wyatt put his hand on his back checking for his wand. 'Cause yeah, he's wary now.
“What would you do at the school? Aren't you student here?”
The man huffs a laugh and smiles. “Not your business.”
“But if you aren't honest how can I trust you?”
“Trust? Why should we trust each other? We're just roadmate.”
“But I actually really don't know if I can walk next to you.”
“Why not? Do I seem to have some dangerous stuff?”
“Well, maybe you're hiding them.”

Gabriel couldn't help but smiles.

“Okay, you want play cards on table? Alright.”

He takes out his wand from his back pocket and shows it in front of the boy who inspects it quietly.

“That's my only weapon,” Gabriel smiles sweetly at him.

The blond still stares suspiciously at the man but hasn't other point to say so he nods and follows the student to where he's leading them.

“What's the name of the school?”

“Ilvermorny. It's highly inspired of UK's Hogwarts because the founder came from England.”

“Oh yeah?” Wyatt unconsciously keeps up at his level, curious to know more of this magic school.

“Yeah. Isolt Sayre, an Irish witch who couldn't attend Hogwarts travelled across ocean and opened the school at Greylock mount, Massachusetts, with her no-majes husband and two orphan wizards. She heard about the four houses but didn't actually know how the sorting worked and changed it to adapt as it was.”

“Uh. You know a lot about it, sir.”

Gabriel Rowle turns cheerfully at him.

“You can call me Gabe. And I had to, I used to be an intership and teach there.”

“Teaching? How old are you?”

“How old do you give me?”

Taken aback by the reply, Wyatt blinks and thinks about it. Gabe looks pretty young and just pretty. He has dark hair cut like those k-pop idol's length and bright blue eyes, quite mesmerizing. He's also tall enough to be the perfect size for a hug and toned arms. He probably work out but that doesn't actually help him deducing his age. He said he's training to be teacher or used to be in a traineeship, but didn't precise when. Besides, it's not like Wyatt knows how to be a magic teacher. In the muggle world, it took at least five years to be able to teach, but wizard world would work differently.

“Don't work up so much if you don't know.”

“I could just don't want to know.”

“That too.”

He sulks when the man starts to laugh and he has the feeling to be mocked.

“Oh, I have another question. The desk lady said there is a school for higher studies?”

“The university of Salem, yeah.”

“That name's so cliché. Is it co-ed too?”

“Indeed. We just passed it.”

“What, really?”

He turns and barely catches the end of the fence.

“That was the university?”

“Hey, the campus must be huge to welcome a lot of students.”

“Did you study there?”

“I did.”

“You're a gratuate student?”

“That I am.”

“So you must be at least 22.”

This time, Gabe does not turn to show him his beautiful smile but Wyatt still catches it in the corner of his lips.

“So you did care.”

It's a little difficult to deny this so Wyatt doesn't say anything. The rest of the walk passes in silence as they were approaching Ilvermorny. The place becomes less and less civilized as nature took by and the landscape's just showing trees with imposing roots with meadow then ends in a headland.

“So, that's Ilvermorny.”

It's a huge castle made of granite, with the front door adorned of two statues of a woman and a man. Probably Isolt and her husband.

“Why did you want to wome here?”

“I'm in the search of, uh, special kind of wizard? I don't know if there are a lot there, but in UK, there's apparence of wizards endowed of extra power. It kind of create weird tension because some people think they're some kind of chosen?”

“I think every wizard community heard of the Future Order. They did let a mark by appearing in every side of the world.”

“Yeah, so, I was kind of bored?”

“Don't you have homework?”

“I finished them all.”

“Such a studious student. And a curious one. Are you a Ravenclaw?”

Wyatt bites his pout, he's not that juvenile.

“So you know about Hogwrts a lot too. Did you get into an intership there too?”

“I wish.”

So, that's how he met his future teacher of Defence Against Dark Arts for the incoming school year.
