• The Red Hair Finnigan -Quest11

    September 2038

Aiden is thirteen when he realizes that he doesn't had real friend.
Okay, he's always with his brother so he's like his best friend. But not really, not that Cael isn't good friend, he sure is, a very loyal one, but he actually isn't very empathic. And yeah, he is good with all his housemate beside those of his dorm, but he isn't their friend. Not really. And fine, he befriends with all the Six, but could he really call them his friend when they'll leave Hogwarts at the end of this scholarship? No, right? (Or yes, he could if they remember him next year.)
    So, he doesn't have friend.
Until now. This year, Eileen Goldstein enters at Hogwarts. And surprisingly, they get along.
Contrarily to what people think, at least in the 30 Legends, Aiden hadn't really meet the other and their child (or children for that matter). He barely remembers of a little blonde girl when he nearly run away at four but at this moment he just know that her mother wasn't his. Which is understandable because in this contrary case, they'll be siblings and he doesn't know if he prefers to have another blond one (at least, Reed has red hair, too, also inherited from his mother). After this misadventure, he hasn't got other occasion to see the Goldsteins again.
Except the Samain 2032 (and yeah, they call that because their grandparents, actually just the granddad, told them it is and Matthew Goldstein and their family celebrate), when they dinner together (Finnegans, Goldsteins and Potters) to celebrate Rose new assignment at the runes at Hogwarts. And at this moment she just is five while they are seven (and six for Loan). Then, there is the 30 (well, 28 actually, but it's ugly so let's go on with 30) Legends reunion but they did not have the time to know each other.
Now she's here, they can get to know. Even if she's in Slytherin.
It's not like he'll say anything about that. Himself should have been sorted at Hufflepuff. So... Yeah.
But Eileen is a first year and he couldn't be with her anytime, because she has her acquaintances. Like Fanny Lupin, her relative and Tony's little sister, or this shy guy who didn't want to be sorted and asked to be at Cameleide. He was the first student who craves that from the beginning.

And since Cael thinks writing letters to Loan is better than spending time with him, Aiden is alone again.
"Don't be so dramatic, you can join club," Eileen tells him one day.
    "Yeah? Which one?"
"The one which they sing? You like that, right?"
"It's glee club, and I don't think I enjoy singing  in front of these people or to sing like as an assignment, it should be a pleasure."
"You got a point. Maybe one of those martial art club? You know this too."
"But I'm not really into that. I mean, I know the base but I don't think I'll enjoy it."
"Come on, don't be a brat and give it a try. You can always says it isn't what you thought to withdraw."
    "Yeah, maybe I could."
    "Okay, go. Now."
    "What? But-"
    "No. Go."
Rolling his eyes, he makes his way to the martial art club. But then he stops. Which one? Because surprisingly, there are plenty. Like judo, karate, even kendo, but they are Japanese and- there isn't Kung fu. And it's little discriminatory.
"Why there isn't Kung fu club?" He asks his dad later.
"Because no one wants to?" Tobias replies uncertainly.
Always with The question tone. Aiden sighs thinking about how he doesn't have any luck.
"Are you bored? Would you like to help me?"
    "Yeah? Why not?"
During a long hour, they just keep making potion without talking except to ask some ingredients which are the other's side.
"Why are you looking for Kung fu club? Don't you wanna try other martial art?"
"I don't know these. And I just wanna distract myself."
"You could join the dramatic art. I mean, they always want some volunteers and it's not like it's big deal."
"Hum...I don't know. I'm not very into this."
"Maybe you can try one of these three Japanese martial arts. You can find some appreciation."
    "Maybe."
His dad covers the last bottle they dealt with and claps loudly his hands.
"Ok, thanks for your help, now you can go and try judo or karate or whatever is this."
"Kendo. But I have time I could help you."
"Thanks for your offer but go entertain yourself and be sure to have fun, okay?" His dad smiles while he tousles his red hair.
With messy hairs, Aiden pouts and nods but he walks to the sports Hall.
And since it's the middle of afternoon, all the activities began one hour ago.
So he's little noisy when he opens the door. Everyone just stops what they did to look at him.
    "Hem, hello?"
"Finnigan, what do you want? Did your dad want something?" A elder guy asks him.
Aiden already dislike him. Why thinking that what he does have to be about his dad?
"No. I just- I just want join the karate club."
    "Oh, really?"
And now he seems genuinely surprised.
"Yeah. Can I? Or is it too late?"
"Not at all. We just want to know if you already do this?"
"Hem, I know some-I mean, I know Kung fu."
"Yeah? And do you want to found Kung fu club but you don't have enough member or do you want to change discipline?"
"Er..." Aiden hesitates, what are those questions. "I want ...change."
"So, you think karate is better than judo?"
"Well, I don't know since I never try it but maybe I can try one of these two and think about it." He cracks a little.
"Sure. You said you know some Kung fu moves and since it's like karate, we can measure your level with that. If don't mind, of course."
    "It's okay. Should I change or...something?"
"Obviously, you couldn't do anything without the adequate suit. Go try one of those suit in the box. Meanwhile we choose one of us to measure you."
Nodding, he goes find the said suit to change himself. When he returns, the others are assembled in circle and were chatting. Seems the choice is still not made.
"You're ready? Okay, so Julian will be your opponent. You just have to do one match which ends with one of you on the floor, understand? Good."
The two opponents place themself face to face.
    "Hajime."
And they throw into each other. There is struggle with arms and shoulder and feet and legs but then one brusquely is hurled in the air before crashing into the tatami. Aiden stares quietly at one shocked Julian. Like all the others karate kids.
"Uh... Yame." The elder student speaks up. "So, you, hem, are very able."
"Yeah, you must be, like, black belt."
"I don't know for karate but I know how to defend myself at Kung fu."
"When did you say is your last practice?"
"Three months ago, but I jog every mornings."
"Oh, right. So everyone should take example on our newbie. Training hard everyday for good preservation."
    It was the day lesson.
Later, Julian Lambert (his first and recurrent opponent) admits that they choose him because he had the more experience and they just want to trick him, 'cause he's the teacher's son and maybe he's obnoxious. Turns out that he's apt and do quite efforts and is way too modest. So he sort of apologizes and asks him to forgive him. And he did because it's not their fault, he also used to think that teachers' child are obnoxious too. And to be honest, he was at first with his brother. So, it's forgotten.

Even if he's elder of two years and Slytherin.

Once he's officially a karate member, his brother is all but whining.
"Meh... If you join club, we'll be less together!"
"And what about Loan?" Eileen sighs.
    Here is another complaining boy.
"He very isn't good at corresponding. All his letters are short."
"Maybe you could join a club too."
"A martial art, maybe?" Cael snorts sarcastically.
"Well, I don't think it sied you."
    "What do you mean?"
"Whatever, how do you think about singing?"
"Like the glee club and struggle for solo or duet? No, thank you."
"Maybe music? How do you think about playing an instrument?"
    "Playing music? Well it's unexpected."
"But it could be a great idea!" Aiden beams. "I mean, why not? You could impress Loan with that!"
"That's true, remember that he hasn't any clue about this," Eileen agrees.
    Plus it's her suggestion.
    "Right, I'll try."
"Guitar, I think it would enjoy everyone." Aiden nods.
"Or violin, it's more sophisticated and elaborate and we all know that he likes refined thing."
The blonde boy nods eagerly, already forgetting the initial problem.
And here is another accomplished mission by Eileen.
And the better part is that she even convinces them to take part to the play the dramatic art will play at the end of the scholarship.
Ah, boys. And O her, the first year Slytherin.
