1st January - Avril 2060

The day he returns to his family, healed and hand to hand with Julian, everyone were happy for them.
Until there isn't much to be happy.
"A word, Ju?"
Julian stops his move to bring the salad to the plate.
"Yes, my love?"
"Don't 'my love' me when you know you're in trouble."
"What? I'm just making the lunch."
"Yea, with a lot of peas that Ciel couldn't bear. Why don't you like him?"
"What are you talking? If I really don't like him, I'll make all our meal with peas."
"Julian."
"The tone is useless. Even if I love when you're bossy, It doesn't work anymore when you're mad."
"Maybe, but I'm actually mad and will make your life impossible if you don't change your behavior."
"Like what? No sex? Not like I have plenty since I bring us together back."
"Otherwise you're not allowed here anymore."
"What? You kick me out?"
"It's technically my home."
"I pay too."
"I'm not asking."
"You couldn't do that!"
"Well, I will if you keep being an ass with my son."
"Hey, I could not appreciate kid!"
"Hey! You're the one who woo a celibacy dad!"
"I used to woo you before you became a dad!"
"But now I am and you adapt yourself or you can get out."
"Could you please stop using such a heartbreaking word?"
"Once you stopped being heartbreaker in front of my kid?"
There is a beat of silence where Julian is taken aback by his lover's soft tone.
"I could just not appreciate someone!"
"It's just a child!"
"It's the child you got with someone that's not me!"
Aden remains silent at this statement.
"He's part of my life, Ju."
He doesn't get an answer and doesn't insist. Aden lets Julian thinks about it while he spends the whole time with his son.
But Ciel isn't silly -he's genius!- and he makes lot of effort to make them up.

"Why do you do that?" Julian asks one day.
"Because you made him happy since she's gone. But now you both are miserable."
The adult of the two doesn't say anything and keeps avoiding the child making Aden sad and bad.

Then in April, Aden is packing.
"What are you doing?"
Aden glares darkly at Julian then returns to his work without a word.
"Aiden, talk to me! Why are you packing?"
Even if Aden wants to hurt his boyfriend as he does to him lately, he couldn't bear the tears in his voice neither couldn't he look at the watery eyes.
"Ciel and me are going in Japan."
"What? Not without me!"
"Did you hear me? I say Ciel and me."
"Well, I can ask a break, the police department could totally allow me that."
"Okay, do whatever you want. Our fly is tomorrow at noon."
Julian just has the time to reserve a ticket that someone gives up and preps himself quickly.
On the road to the airport by taxi, he's interrogating the ginger.
"Why are we going there?"
"Why are you following us?"
"Aiden? A truce, please?"
There is a beat of silence.
"We're going because Miki's testament is asking us."
The silence becomes tense. Especially when Julian hears the boy's breath because he's sleeping.
"And who's Miki?" Julian asks anyway.
"Why do you care?"
Julian tightens his fists.
"An ex?"
Silence is a consent.
"Was she her substitute?"
He nods to the kid's flat form.
"Is it any of your business?"
Ju's jaw is so forced that hurts.
"No one can be her substitute. We don't want one. He has me and I have him."
"I'm here too."
"...you know your deal."
They arrive at the airport, take the airplane for Sapporo, Japan and wait for the fly. Once in the plane, Aden takes the seat at the window, Julian at the edge and Ciel between them.
"You okay, baby?" Aden asks his son who's pretty calm.
"Yes, daddy," replies quietly the kid.
"Maybe you should sleep, the fly will took some time."
Ciel nods weakly and closes his eyes.
But when the airplane is in the air, Julian notices that the toddler is very pale. Well, paler that he could possibly be and breathing heavily. He looks at his father and Aiden is deeply asleep too, and even if there is frown, Ju doesn't want to wake him up. So holding back his own frown, he moves the child and lay him on his own lap. Ciel looks already better.

"What did you say? Miki gives me- what?"
They are in Japan, somewhere in Sapporo, in Miki's lawyer office. And the three Caucasian are pretty stunned to hear what the late Japanese ceded to them.
"Yes, sir," says the lawyer with a high accent "miss Miki wrote in her testament that she let you raise her child if something happened to her."
"Like now," whispers Julian.
Aden is too astonished to say anything. His gaze lays on his son who returns the gaze unfazed.
"Where's the kid?" The ginger says quietly.
"At the childbearing."
"He's just born?" Aden is horrified.
"No, miss Miki gave birth to her daughter three weeks ago."
"And...how did she pass away?"
"Overdose."
"She's taking drug?"
"That was what the diagnostic said."
"When- since when she wrote the- her testament?"
"The day she knew she'll give birth."
Upset and lost, Aden doesn't know how to deal this affair and thankfully he allowed Julian to come because the man is here to help.
"Can we have a sight to the child? And some time to accept this."
"Sure, I give you the address."

They go to the hospital where the new born is carried on, but the lawyer warned them, the baby couldn't stay longer and will be bring to the orphanage or some building like that. And Aden can definitely not let that happen. He stands in front of the window and stares at the coddlers with Miki's child, placed in the corner of the room to not be mistaken with the others.
"Do you want me to solve the case?"
"They will let you?"
"I have a world authorization."
"Well...be my guest. Or their guest, for that matter. If you find something before the night, come find me here. I don't think I'll go somewhere else."
The case took only the after noon. At seven pm, Julian comes back in the hospital, ignoring his boyfriend's son and tells him everything he find about this case. Ten months ago, Miki Hanemura is a pleased woman who's married to the singer Rihito Takashi and they became soon to be parents. But not a month passed, she wrote a testament to how her child will be beneath the American Aden Eli Brooks' charge. Nine months later, she's found dead by overdose, her husband vanished. The murderer is pretty obvious.
"You were her only hope."
At the end of his explanation, Aden's crushed.
"So... I just have to raise her like my child."
"It couldn't be that difficult, I'll be at your side. And think about her condition. Miki was a squib, so there's chance that the baby is a witch," Julian adds the last part whispering.
Aden only hesitates two seconds before accepting this new charge. Later, they are in the lawyer office again and sign all the paperwork and Kuri/Crystal Brooks Finnigan-Lambert is officially their child.

Of course, with the new member in the family, Julian behaves better and the family lives happily.
